THE ROCK AND POP ACADEMY
Cameron Mills Group is proud to have created The Rock and Pop Academy – the home for young musicians across Devon.
Built by Cameron Mills Group, The Rock and Pop Academy brings together everything we believe music education should be: real, exciting, creative and connected to the industry.
For young people aged 7–18, it’s a place to learn, play, perform and grow – developing musical skills, confidence, friendships and the experience to become the artists they want to be.
From electric guitar, bass and drums to vocals, every student gets the opportunity to learn their instrument, discover new music and experience what it’s really like to be part of a band.
What Happens at The Rock and Pop Academy?
Every two-hour session is packed with music, creativity and energy.
First hour: students receive small-group tuition, with a maximum of five students per tutor. They develop their skills on guitar, bass, drums or vocals while learning real songs and building a growing repertoire.
Second hour: everyone comes together in our jam space to rehearse and perform as a band. Students learn how to listen, collaborate, experiment and perform together – gaining the confidence that only comes from making music with other people.
And because we believe learning should feel like a record label, not a classroom, sessions are filled with challenges, games, music quizzes and creative activities – particularly for our younger students.
Perform. Create. Connect.
At The Rock and Pop Academy, performing is part of the journey.
Throughout the year, students build a live setlist before taking their music out of the classroom and onto real stages. From local performances and showcases to our major end-of-year shows, students get the chance to experience the excitement of performing in front of an audience.
But there’s another part of The Rock and Pop Academy that makes it different.
We’re built with the industry.
Through Cameron Mills Group, our students are connected to a network of professional musicians, artists, producers, performers and creative industry leaders. Our wider CMG network includes acclaimed artists and industry figures, alongside our incredible patrons and partners – bringing genuine industry experience directly into the learning environment.
That means masterclasses, workshops, performances, advice and inspiration from people who have actually done it.
Because music education shouldn't just teach young people how to play a song.
It should show them where music can take them.
